The Iranian feature-length animation “Juliet and the King”, written and directed by Ashkan Rahgozar, has earned its sixth international award, this time at the Canadian Experimental Film and Music Festival.
According to IBland’s News, “Juliet and the King”, which has participated in 14 national and international festivals, secured its sixth international accolade: the “Best Film” award at the 11th edition of the International Experimental Film and Music Festival. This festival is held annually in November in Ontario, Canada.
The Plot and Genre of “Juliet and the King”
“Juliet and the King” is a comedic-romantic musical animation that delves into the historical events surrounding the formation of Western-style theatre in Iran. This film is the second animated feature produced by Hoorakhsh Studio, also penned and directed by Ashkan Rahgozar.
The synopsis reveals: “Julie, an ambitious but novice theatre actress, is invited to Iran by Naser al-Din Shah Qajar to play the role of Juliet in a stage production. She is unaware that the King has other plans for her.”
