Four Iranian short animations; “Bug,” “Korbat,” “Jumping Season,” and “Dejkak”; have secured spots in the competition section of the Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival (ICONA) in Greece.

According to IBland’s news, according to Public Relations office of the Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film Development Center (DEAFD Center), the four animations; “Bug” directed by Ali Masoumi, “Korbat” by Niloofar Naderi Tehrani, “Jumping Season” by Shahang Kiani Rashid, and “Dejkak” by Azad Maroufi (all produced by the DEAFD Center); have advanced to the short film competition section of the 7th Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival (ICONA) in Greece.

ICONA 2025: Celebrating Global Animation and Collaboration

The Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival (ICONA) 2025, organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the Ionian University, aims to showcase the best animation works from around the globe.

The festival’s goals also include preserving and advancing the cultural heritage of animated films, supporting the production of new works, providing a platform for international collaborations, and fostering dialogue among industry veterans, filmmakers, and the general audience. These four Iranian animations were submitted to the festival by the International Unit of the DEAFD Center.

The 7th edition of the festival is scheduled to take place from November 13th to 16th on the Ionian Islands of Greece.
