On October 8, 2025, the Iranian animated film Yooz, directed by Reza Arzhangi and produced by Ehsan Kaveh, set a new record for the most-watched and highest-grossing day in the history of Iranian children’s cinema.

According to Ibland’s news, released with half-price tickets on National Children’s Day, Yooz attracted 70,000 viewers and earned $31,000 at the box office in just one day, making it the most successful children’s film ever in a single day in Iran.

How Yooz animation Outperformed Previous Records

Before Yooz, the record was held by the animated feature “Babaei Ghahreman” with 51,000 viewers in a day. Another popular film, “Bache Zerang”, had drawn 49,000 viewers at its peak.

Yooz animation not only surpassed these numbers but raised the bar significantly with a 20,000 viewer margin, establishing it as the undisputed leader in the children’s animation category in Iran.

Extraordinary Box Office Demand and Audience Response

The film’s strong performance didn’t stop there. On the same day, Yooz registered 48 extra screenings after 8 PM; the last allowed time slot for children’s films in Iran; making it the highest number of late-night screenings ever recorded for a children’s movie.

This phenomenal reception places Yooz ahead of all current social and comedy films at the Iranian box office.

About the Animation: Yooz’s Story and Production

Yooz is a joint production between the Soureh Animation Center and Vistamedia. It tells the adventurous story of an endangered Iranian cheetah’s journey to return home; a theme that resonates with both children and adults.

The movie has been in cinemas across Iran since September 24, 2025, distributed by Bahman Sabz, and has already surpassed $140,000 in total sales.

The success of Yooz marks a turning point for domestic animation and signals a growing appetite for high-quality, culturally resonant children’s content in Iranian cinema.
