The short animated film “Paper Flowers”, directed by Ramak Amin Kazemi, has been officially selected to compete in the 37th edition of the Girona Film Festival in Spain, one of the country’s most diverse cinematic events. The festival will run from November 3 to 7, 2025, in the city of Girona.

Accordoing to IBland’s news, Iranian animation once again takes center stage internationally, with Paper Flowers competing in the festival’s official animation category alongside a broad lineup that includes short films, feature films, documentaries, music videos, and youth-focused cinema.

A Story of Solitude and Creative Renewal

Paper Flowers tells the story of an accomplished female writer facing emotional and professional collapse after one of her works fails. To overcome the crisis, she leaves her home and family behind and seeks refuge in an abandoned mansion, hoping to reconnect with her creative spirit in solitude.

This poetic and introspective tale explores themes of identity, self-doubt, and artistic rebirth; universal elements that make Paper Flowers a standout entry in the festival’s animation lineup.

Global Recognition for Iranian Animation

Produced by the Iranian Center for the Development of Documentary, Experimental and Animation Cinema, Paper Flowers has already been honored internationally, including winning Best Short Animation at the Kazan International Film Festival.

Its selection for Girona Festival 2025 marks another milestone for Iranian animation, affirming its growing influence in global creative storytelling.
